Let’s put 2020 behind us and get stuck into the good stuff 2021 has to offer
King Diamond/Mercyful Fate – The Institute/Album #8
The long wait for King Diamond’s The Institute is almost over, but the iconic frontman recently revealed that work had also begun for an eighth record from his flagship band Mercyful Fate.
Release Dates: TBA for both
Every Time I Die – Album #9
Two new singles in December offered an insight into what we could expect from ETID’s first new release since 2016’s Low Teens. Chunky, punchy hardcore is the answer, though we might not get it till touring comes back.
Release Date: TBA
Devin Townsend – Puzzle
Devin Townsend is one of metal’s most unpredictable and deranged creative forces, so no matter what direction he takes we expect to be left in awe of his 19th solo release.
Release Date: Spring 2021
Kreator – Album #15
Working on a follow-up to 2018’s phenomenal Gods of Pleasure, Teutonic titans Kreator have confirmed they are looking to shake things up. So long as they keep those massive hooks, we’ll be happy.
Release Date: TBA
Andrew W.K. – Album #6
Andrew W.K.’s You’re Not Alone was an explosive and overwhelmingly positive return for rock’s biggest party animal. For its follow-up, we’re hoping for politically-charged, soul-searching artistry. Just kidding – LET’S PARTY!
Release Date: TBA
Bleeding Through
Confirmed to be working on their first album since 2012’s The Great Fire, we’re expecting something heavy and furiously brilliant for Bleeding Through’s ninth.
Release Date: TBA
Tomahawk – Album #5
The king of comebacks, Mike Patton has rewritten the rulebook with wildly successful returns to Faith No More and Mr. Bungle in recent years – here’s hoping he can go three-for-three with Tomahawk.
Release Date: TBA

Release date: TBA
Vio-Lence – Album #4
Now Phil Demmel has Vio-Lence as his primary concern and at least five songs have been recorded (ostensibly for an EP release), it seems we might just get a new record in 2021.
Release Date: TBA
Venom Prison – Album #3
Freshly signed to Century Media, Venom Prison drew a neat line under their career thus far with last year’s Primeval demo re-recording. One of the freshest and most vital forces in modern extreme metal, we’re expecting something massive next time out.
Release Date: TBA
