Deep Purple have launch their first new material since new guitarist Simon McBride joined the band. The propulsive Portable Door is on streaming platforms now and comes from the band's upcoming album =1

Portable Door was produced by Bob Ezrin, who receives a writing credit on the song alongside band members Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey and McBride. It may remind some fans of Pictures Of Home, from Purple's classic Machine Head album, but with Ian Gillan's more to the fore as he sings, "You gotta be jokin' man / What are you smokin'? / Blow it out through my portable door."

"Deep Purple are more than just their members," said the band when announcing the album. "=1 embodies the essence and attitude of their 1970s incarnation possibly more than any other album in recent memory. With the legendary Bob Ezrin once again producing, the record evokes the pioneering band’s classic sound, without relying on nostalgia."

Deep Purple's first show of 2024 takes place tomorrow night (May 1) at the Fort Canning Park in Singapore, before the One More Time tour begins proper at Parque Tierno Galván in Madrid, Spain, on June 13. Full dates below.
