As we recently reported on Metal Hammer, Metallica’s Rob Trujillo is backing a film documenting the life and times of iconic bassist Jaco Pastorius. And this got us thinking…

…who is the greatest bassist of all time? This led to a lot of names being shouted across the office and a ton of bass solos dug up on YouTube, but it got us nowhere. So we decided that YOU should choose!

There are 31 bassists to choose from in the first (and probably only) Greatest Bassist award. Taken from all corners of rock and metal, this is where you have your say on the best four-stringer music has ever known. Voting closes in a week’s time (26th January). GO GO GO!
