Neil Young has detailed his upcoming release Earth.

The live concept album he made in collaboration with country band Promise Of The Real is due for release on June 17. It includes reimagined songs from Young’s previous albums such as After The Gold Rush and The Monsanto Years mixed with a variety of nature and city sounds – and the record also includes previously unreleased track I Won’t Quit.

The veteran singer-songwriter will also hold his first ever album preview event at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum on May 6 to discuss the release.

He says: “98 uninterrupted minutes long, Earth flows as a collection of 13 songs from throughout my life, songs I have written about living here on our planet together.

“Our animal kingdom is well represented in the audience as well, and the animals, insects, birds, and mammals actually take over the performances of the songs at times.”

Young is also rumoured to be lined up for a star-studded three-day concert bill along with the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Who and Paul McCartney in Indo, California this October.

Earth can be pre-ordered via Neil Young’s digital music streaming service Pono.
