The Offspring have sold the rights to six of their albums in a deal worth $35million (£23m).
Dexter Holland and co have handed over the master recordings and publishing rights to their albums released on Columbia Records to Round Hill Music, but their records released via Epitaph – including The Offspring, Ignition and 1994’s breakthrough Smash – remain with the label that originally issued them.
Frontman Dexter says: “We felt that having the right caretaker for our catalog, both the masters and the publishing, is incredibly important to the future of our career.”
Round Hill Music chairman Josh Gruss adds: “You won’t get a more high-quality catalog than The Offspring. Also, we didn’t have some American punk rock in our publishing portfolio, and this acquisitions helps broaden the genre representation.”
The six Columbia albums included in the deal are Ixnay On The Hombre, Americana, Conspiracy Of One, Splinter, Rise And Fall Rage And Grace and Days Go By.
The Offspring have a number of festival dates planned for 2016.
