Vote for the greatest metal debut album ever

Every band has to start somewhere. And for a hallowed few, that means releasing a debut album that makes a huge impact right out of the gate.

There are those debuts that turn the artists who made them into superstars overnight. There are the ones that change the game instantly, ushering a whole new scene. And then there are the slow-burners – the ones whose greatness takes years to be discovered.

We’re attempting to answer the impossible question: what is the greatest metal debut of all time? And we need YOUR help to do it.

It’s simple: we’ve listed more than 100 albums for you to vote for. Every vote counts – and you have three to spend on the list below.

If you can’t see your own favourite on there, just write your suggestion at the bottom of the poll (please use the format Band Name: Album Title, cos it makes our life a lot easier).

Before you ask, we’re counting proper full-length debut albums – so no glorified demos (sorry, Slipknot’s Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat) and no mini-albums (sorry, Celtic Frost’s Morbid Tales).

We'll be announcing the results in the coming weeks, so make sure to check back to see how your favourite fared.

Are you ready? Let’s go…
