Here's a metal cover of Three Lions (Football's Coming Home)

It was always going to happen, wasn't it? A metal band were obviously going to cover Three Lions (Football's Coming Home), the song made famous by David Baddiel, Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds in 1996 (and subsequently 1998).

Of course, this replaces awkward British charm with brutality and breakdowns, replacing the slightly off-key singing from Baddiel and Skinner with guttural growls and sparkly, polished cleans – courtesy of anonymous moshlords Chuggaboom!

"You know it's coming home when The World's Greatest Metalcore Band starts singing about it," say the band. "Show the world. Let them know it's coming home."

If you're not English, hate football or have somehow missed the reinvigorated phenomenon that is Three Lions (Football's Coming Home), here's the original version to get you in the mood for tonight's semi-final against Croatia.

The England football anthems you need ahead of this afternoon's game.

Luke Morton joined Metal Hammer as Online Editor in 2014, having previously worked as News Editor at popular (but now sadly defunct) alternative lifestyle magazine, Front. As well as helming the Metal Hammer website for the four years that followed, Luke also helped relaunch the Metal Hammer podcast in early 2018, producing, scripting and presenting the relaunched show during its early days. He also wrote regular features for the magazine, including a 2018 cover feature for his very favourite band in the world, Slipknot, discussing their turbulent 2008 album, All Hope Is Gone.
