Jam sessions can go one of two ways: you can either get something new, dangerous and exciting, or it can be a one-way ticket to Snoozesville, USA.

Fortunately for us, this summit of two heavyweights, in the shape of Black Diamond Heavies’ drummer Van Campbell and guitarist Freddy J IV from Left Lane Cruiser, is a marriage made in hard-rock heaven.

Both men bring their A-game to the table with a series of loud tracks that hark back to the early days of The Black Keys, before they became the darlings of soundtrack producers the world over. Their raucous take on Wilko Johnson’s Keep It Out Of Sight could raise the dead, and the southern rock flavoured Take A Look proves there’s more to them than meets the eye.

You might not get a decent night’s sleep at the Victory Motel, but you’re guaranteed a bloody good time.
