Songhoy Blues have made their track Petit Metier – remixed by Julian Casablancas – available to stream.

The original version of the song appeared on the group’s 2015 debut album Music In Exile. The latest version, remixed by The Strokes frontman, is available digitally now, with a 7-inch vinyl version set for release in the US in the coming months.

The single also features a live version of Al Hassidi Terei, recorded at the band’s sold-out London Koko show in November of last year.

Songhoy Blues re-recorded the vocals for Petit Metier last August and Casablancas has been working on the new production with engineer and mixer Shaun Everett.

Having fallen for the band in 2014, Casablancas invited them to tour with his band The Voidz in November 2014.

This week the band have been announced as winners in the newcomer category at the 2016 Songlines Awards.

They say: “We’re beyond grateful to Songlines for naming us newcomer of the year. Thanks to the magazine for their incredible support and everyone else that have helped make the last year such a success. Here’s to the next chapter.”

Songhoy Blues play The Roundhouse in London on May 21.
