Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett says he’s honoured to have joined Elton John onstage at the weekend.

Hammett played Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting with Elton John and his guitarist Davey Johnstone at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday.

In an Instagram post, Hammett says: “It was an honour and extreme privilege to share the stage with such a legend. Thanks, Elton John.

“Davey Johnstone is a great guitarist and it was an honour to play with him. I had first seen him play during Alice Cooper’s Madhouse Rock Tour in 1979 and he kicked major ass.”

Metallica are currently working on their 10th album and they’re the cover stars of the latest issue of Metal Hammer magazine, available now in print, digital and via TeamRock+.
