Penitent hellraisers make dull records, and former jailbird Eric Gales is sometimes a little too earnest on this semiconcept album that casts off his demons. Thankfully the Memphis bluesman can’t stay on the straight and narrow for long, and on the high-velocity reggae of Change In Me and the scorching soul of I’ve Been Deceived there’s still a twinkle in his eye
