The dust has settled after four frantic days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals - but even though the sales are officially over, there are plenty of excellent bargains to be found in the US and UK.

I've been searching though the remaining online discounts and posted them below - just in case you missed anything over the long Cyber Weekend. And there's everything from turntables and CD players, to vinyl box sets, Iron Maiden collectables, Bluetooth speakers and streaming service discounts.

While these deals are still going at the time of writing, they could come to an end at any moment, so if you see something you like, grab it before it's too late.

When it comes to streaming services, there's a bewildering selection out in the wild - and as a music fan, I'm always looking for a new documentary to watch... at a reasonable price, of course. And with 50% off a Paramount+ sub for Cyber Monday, I've found something that'll see me through the remainder of the year and well into next - although with only a few hours left, you'll have to be quick if you want to join me!

This feature-length documentary was released earlier this year and charts the rock icon's life and career. If you've long loved Ozzy or are coming to his music for the first time following his death, this is an excellent watch that was produced in association with the Osbourne family.

Geddy Lee Asks: Are Bass Players Human Too?

I might be a bit biased here because Rush are one of my favourite bands, but there's something genuinely refreshing seeing Geddy Lee hang out and chat with some of the biggest bassist in rock. This is a small four-part series, but we get the opportunity to see the Rush legend interact with Robert Trujillo, Les Claypool, Melissa Auf Der Maur and Krist Novoselic.

Lolla: The Story Of Lolapalooza

This is a neat behind the scenes look at how the massive Lollapalooza festival got started back in the good old days of 1991 and how it's grown over the years to become a huge cultural phenomenon that's still going strong today.

Behind The Music

This is a series of shorts that premiered back in 1997 and takes a peek behind the curtain to see what makes artists and bands tick. There's loads of content covering a variety of genres to delve into, and that includes artists such as Motley Crue, Poison's Bret Michaels, Wolfgang Van Halen, Alanis Morisette and Ice T.

Nothin' But A Good Time

Named after Poison's hit 1988 single, Nothin' But A Good Time is a no holds barred, three-part series that looks back on the infamous rock and metal scene in the US in the 80's. I highly recommend watching it no matter what style of music you're into, as it really gives a flavour of what it was like to be in some of the most famous bands of the decade.

Away from music, there's the entire Star Trek universe to explore, movies like The Substance, Gladiator II and Novocaine to watch, and TV shows such as MobLand, Tulsa King, Yellowstone and Buffy The Vampire Slayer to dive into.

Cyber Weekend is in full swing and there are savings galore just about everywhere you'd care to look. Vinyl, speakers, band merch... Pretty much everything you could think about. So you've got yourself a killer CD collection - but what are you listening to them on?

Whether you've already got a set-up and want to upgrade, or a first-timer looking to get a good audio set-up, there's plenty of deals to dive into.

“A 12-banger cracker of a record!” That was the verdict on The Revenge Of Alice Cooper from Classic Rock. And now this stellar album is available in two dynamite deals in Amazon’s Black Friday sale.

US buyers can get the album on double vinyl for $30.50 – down from its list price of $39.98 and a saving of 24%

UK buyers can get the CD box set for £42.49 – a saving of 15%. This package includes CD Digipak, 7-inch including two bonus tracks vintage art print and t-shirt.

The Revenge Of Alice Cooper features the four surviving members of the original Alice Cooper band in their first recording together since 1974’s Muscle Of Love. Also on hand was their trusted producer Bob Ezrin, who helmed ’70s classics including Love It To Death, School’s Out and Billion Dollar Babies.

As Classic Rock said: “The Revenge Of Alice Cooper clocks in at 16 tracks (in the ’70s four would have been bound for B-sides and the album would’ve been better for it, but here we are). Discount the fillers, which are still of high, if throwaway, quality and you’ve a strong 12-banger cracker of a record.”

Black Sabbath’s self-titled debut album is arguably the most important heavy record album ever made – and for a limited time it’s available on vinyl for a knockdown price at Amazon as part of their huge Black Friday/Cyber Weekend/whatever we're calling it now sale.

And that’s not the only Sabbath deal on offer. Amazon have also reduced the price on another of the band’s early classics, Vol.4 , and the double-vinyl anthology The Ultimate Collection. If you're yet to add any Sabbath to your collection, in my opinion these are the albums to start with.

Vol.4 was originally released in 1972 and features landmark tracks such as Supernaut, Snowblind and the famous ballad Changes.

The Ultimate Collection focuses purely on Sabbath’s first imperial phase in the 1970s with Ozzy Osbourne as singer. This double album has all of the band’s most famous and influential songs, including Paranoid, Iron Man, War Pigs, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Children Of The Grave, Sweet Leaf and of course the signature song Black Sabbath.

But let’s focus here on that first Sabbath album, released in 1970. The whole thing was recorded in a matter of hours, and yet the album’s impact would echo through the decades.

It is one of the seminal rock records, a touchstone for countless heavy metal bands. And it happened more by accident than design.

In 1968, when the four members of Sabbath’s original line-up first got together as The Polka Tulk Blues Band, their music was as inspired by the stars of the British blues-rock boom such as Fleetwood Mac.

All four members of the band were born and raised in Birmingham – “within a mile of each other,” as singer Ozzy Osbourne said. Ozzy and guitarist Tony Iommi had known each other at school. Iommi and drummer Bill Ward had played in a band named Mythology, and bassist Terry ‘Geezer’ Butler previously played rhythm guitar for Ozzy’s band Rare Breed.

It was in early 1969, after a change of name from The Polka Tulk Blues Band to Earth, that Iommi heard the first Led Zeppelin album and vowed to make music that was, in his words, “even heavier”. What he discovered, by chance, was a sound of subliminal power.

In a simple three-note riff, Iommi unwittingly recreated a dissonant harmonic scale known for centuries as diabolus in musica – the Devil in music. Iommi’s riff was the foundation for a song in which heavy rock power was matched by visions of Satan and hellfire in Ozzy’s lyrics. In a stroke of genius, they named this song, and then rechristened the band, after a 1963 horror movie starring Boris Karloff: Black Sabbath.

The debut album was recorded in October 1969 at Regent Sound studio in London. According to Ozzy, it was completed in one session, “12 hours straight”.

Iommi remembered it differently: three afternoons on consecutive days.

For much of the album the band played super-heavy, on riff-driven songs such as The Wizard, Behind The Wall Of Sleep and N.I.B.

In addition, there were two cover versions on which Sabbath exhibited a broader stylistic range. Evil Woman, essentially a pop song, was originally recorded by little-known Minnesota band Crow. There was also evidence of the band’s blues roots in their version of Warning, a 1967 single by The Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation, transformed by Sabbath into a trippy ten-minute jam.

But it was that one song, so dark and sinister, that defined the album and the band.

Black Sabbath was the opening track, prefaced by a chillingly atmospheric introduction: the sound of rainfall, rumbling thunder and the ominous tolling of a church bell.

In Iommi’s grinding riffing and Ozzy’s anguished wailing was a sound like nothing ever heard before. And the Satanic imagery sealed the band’s reputation: Black Sabbath, the Devil’s disciples.

“It was great to have that kind of image,” Geezer Butler said, “because people were going, well, are they or aren’t they?”

Released on February 13, 1970, the album made the UK top ten, and in the US it sold a million.

With that, Black Sabbath had arrived: as the heaviest of the heavy, and the scariest rock band on God’s Earth.

Amazon really are offering a record-buyers paradise this Cyber Weekend. We've already offered up a connoisseurs choice collection of albums you can still pick up for cheap with both Amazon UK and US, but it turns out Amazon UK are also offering massive savings on a whole bunch of classic albums, with a deal that lets you pick any three selected albums for £66.

It might be 66p short of being a devilish deal, but we reckon that can be forgiven when you see the calibre of albums they've got on offer. Below you can see a few albums we've selected out that are indisputable classics, but you can browse the full range on Amazon UK.

Converse produce some of the most iconic footwear out there and its range of classic designs have been worn by artists including Slash, Green Day and Arctic Monkeys. If you've been waiting until Black Friday to grab a pair, you're in luck because they've launched their Black Friday sale on both sides of the Atlantic - offering up to 65% off select styles across their range in the USand up to 50% off almost everything in the UK.

Let's start in the US where the Chuck Taylor All-Star XXHi Bows & Studs are now half-price, so you’ll pay just $52.50 rather than the retail price of $105.

If something a little smaller are more your thing, then the morbidly marvellous Chuck 70 Day Of The Dead boots also have 50% off, with the price reduced from $95 to $47.50.

My final US pick goes to the Run Star Trainer Colorful Suede low-tops that are available in a load of colours and are now priced at $45 instead of $90.

In the UK, I love the Chuck Taylor GORE-TEX waterproof high-tops which combine great looks with rugged durability. Since these are subject to the maximum 40% discount, you can now add them to your shoe rack for £69 instead of the usual £115.

Classic pumps such as the Star Player 76 Retro are down 40% from £70 to £42, while a special shout goes to the Chuck Taylor All-Star Patch Hoodie - down from £55 to £33.

On September 17, 1991, Guns N’ Roses made a huge statement with the release of two double albums on the same day – Use Your Illusion I and II and while looking for some Black Friday vinyl deals and Black Friday CD deals, I found out that the super deluxe editions are on sale at Amazon.

In the US, the 7CD/Blu-ray version is down 20% from $259.98 to $208.25, while in the UK, you can get the vinyl box set with a 15% discount - down from £399.99 to £339.99.

Across the two Illusion albums are some of the band’s biggest hits, including November Rain, Civil War, You Could Be Mine, Estranged, Don’t Cry, and cover versions of two legendary rock anthems: Paul McCartney and Wings’ Live And Let Die and Bob Dylan’s Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.

In addition to remasters of both albums, the deluxe box sets feature live shows recorded in New York in 1991 and Las Vegas the following year.

The Blu-ray features the full New York concert in HD with surround and stereo audio, while you'll also get a bunch of memorabilia too, including a 100-page hardcover book, a replica Conspiracy Inc fan club kit, 10 double-design lithos, four backstage passes, and more.

I’ve put it off for too long: it’s time for a new portable speaker, and right now I’m planning on diving into Curry’s enticing Sonos Black Friday sale, which is packing savings of up to £200 on Sonos gear.

My beloved UE Boom, which I bought back in 2018 and is becoming cracklier than a smashed bag of crisps, just doesn’t cut it anymore, so I’m going to bite the bullet and invest in a nice upgrade for Black Friday. While I was originally just going to pick up the latest version of the UE Boom, I had a read of this positive review my colleague Paul gave of the original Sonos Move portable speaker while browsing other options.

Lo and behold: Currys have the newer version of the Move, complete with Amazon Alexa, on sale for £359, down from £449 – that’s a saving of £91. To be honest, that’s still a little out of my price range, but given the decent reviews for Sonos products generally, I’m thinking about jumping in on the Sonos Roam 2 portable speaker instead, priced at £139 for Black Friday, down from £179, a saving of £40.

Both the Move and Roam speakers are available in classy black or white editions. It’s always nice to have a choice, right?!

If you’re generally in the market for new speakers and have more cash to splash than I, you can always go big and go home with the Sonos Arc Ultra Sound Bar, on sale at £799, down from £999, a cool saving of £200. I can’t lie: it looks gorgeous and would be the ideal centrepiece to a home theatre setup, but it’s just way out of my price range for now. One day…anyway, you can also get the Arc in black or white, though surely you’ll go black - who has a white TV?!

Whether it’s speakers, headphones or turntables you’re looking for to boost your music listening experience, or if you’re after deals on tech, vinyl, collectables, merch or booze, don’t forget to check out Louder’s extensive Black Friday music deals hub, curated lovingly by us to give you the savings you need.

“1990s grunge-royalty three-piece Nirvana” and “tasteful analogue timepieces” are not often – if ever – bidden to share the same sentence. But I’ve done it now. And not for nothing, either. The iconic band’s iconic iconography was immortalised last year in a series of special edition wristwatches by American brand Nixon - and for Black Friday, the price of the Nirvana Sentry Wobble is down from $375 to $281.25 in the US, while in the UK, the price has been cut from £410 to £307.50.

Aside from the Nirvana Sentry Wobble, you can also get your hands on the Nirvana Sentry Leather at a discount on both sides of the Atlantic. In the US, it's down from $300 to $225 - and in the UK you can get one around your wrist for £206.25, that's down from £275.

The third and final Nirvana offering from Nixon is the Nirvana Time Teller - down from $225 to $168.75. Sadly, that particular timepiece has now sold out in the UK, but with 25% off across the Nixon site, you way very well find something else that takes your fancy.

With Black Friday deals fully ‘In Bloom’ (geddit?), the chances of these watches remaining available for long is slim. So if there's something you like, I say grab it while you can!

Earlier this week, Disney+ released the restored and remastered docu-series The Beatles: Anthology - an updated version of the 1995 original. And while perusing the Black Friday vinyl deals, I noticed that Amazon has cut the price of the accompanying 12LP Anthology Collection vinyl box set - chopping the price by 18% from $374.98 to $309.01 for Black Friday.

Considering the box set was only released at the end of August, this is a brilliant deal and one that Beatles fans should snap up if they can.

In total, The Beatles: Anthology Collection box set contains a whopping 191 tracks including studio outtakes from 1963-1969, live cuts, demos and broadcasts. There’s also new 2025 mixes by Jeff Lynne of Free As A Bird and Real Love.

Each of the 12LPs has been pressed on 180g vinyl, with all 3LP sets presented in a triple-gatefold sleeve with original art and sleeve notes by historian and biographer Mark Lewisohn. As if all this wasn’t enough, Anthology 4 has new sleeve notes by Kevin Howlett, while the outer slipcase features the original Klaus Voorman triptych art.

It's a great deal whichever way you slice it, but for music fans it's particularly excellent timing, coinciding with the release of the 8-part docu-series The Beatles: Anthology. First released in 1995, it has been restored and remastered and is now showing exclusively on Disney+. The first 3 episodes went live earlier this week and if you want to watch all 8 episodes alongside a brand new Episode 9, then this is the best deal to get your hands on right now.

The 2025 version of The Beatles: Anthology is presented in HD, Dolby Vision with 5.1 surround sound, with the project overseen by the Apple Corps’ production team. Peter Jackson (who produced The Beatles: Get Back documentary in 2021 that's also on Disney+) is also onboard with his Wingnut Films team, and it features new audio mixes by Giles Martin.

Describing the series, Disney say: “The series’ original eight episodes trace the legendary journey that began in Liverpool and Hamburg and soon captivated the world. They bring to life the timeless stories - of Beatlemania, the band’s groundbreaking arrival in the USA, their role at the forefront of the 1960s counterculture, their spiritual exploration in India, and their eventual breakup. And through it all, the constant thread: the music, always the music.”

The new ninth episode includes previously unseen footage of Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr together in 1994/95 to work on Anthology and reflect on their time in the band.

Disney+/Hulu is home to a host of music films, the entire Disney universe, all things Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar and National Geographic, so even outside The Beatles doc, you'll have more than enough to keep you entertained right through the festive season and well into 2026.

The MP3 player is very much back in the spotlight after years in the music wilderness. There's a few reasons for this, from streaming-service fatigue to the greater control MP3 players give you over audio quality and playlisting. The Activo P1 earned a rightful spot in our guide to the best MP3 players, beating out some stiff competition as best-in-class for design. It’s a visually striking piece of contemporary tech, blending some tasteful curves with a subtle two-tone from its brushed aluminium body and polycarbonate upper grip.

There’s a lot more going for the Activo P1 than its aesthetics, though. The star of the show, internally speaking, is its Astell&Kern-designed Teraton Alpha sound module, around which the entire device effectively revolves. Thanks to this forward-thinking tech from a top-flight hi-fi manufacturer, the P1 is blessed with some incredible dynamics hitherto un-experienced on similarly-priced devices.

This excellent performance can be enjoyed in a plurality of ways, including via one of two analogue outputs – a 3.5mm headphone out, and a balanced 4.4mm out for the true audiophiles among us. The USB-C port is there for more than charging the battery, too; the P1 can act as a standalone DAC for other devices. Protecting your hearing at a rock show doesn’t need to be the fun-robbing experience often delivered by those free foam earplugs you begrudgingly collect from the venue bar. Better, safer gig experiences are possible, and it’s brands like Loop leading the charge.

The Marshall Monitor III ANC are a five-star pair of over-ear headphones and they're down from $379.99 to $279.99 - a sweet-sounding saving of $100. In the UK, you can grab a pair with £70 off the RRP, with Marshall knocking the price down from £299.99 to £229.99.

If in-ears are more your bag, you’ll love the Marshall Minor IV earbuds – which bagged the ‘best budget’ spot in our round-up of the best Marshall headphones. They’ve even budget-ier than before with the Marshall Black Friday sale, having seen their price slashed from $159.99 to $99.99. Meanwhile in the UK, they're down from £119.99 to just £79.99.

Back to speakers, and Marshall have also decided to shred the price of their hugely popular Emberton III Bluetooth speaker in the US from $179.99 to $149.99 and this deal applies to the portable unit in its Black & Brass, Cream, Sage and Midnight Blue colour variations.

UK music fans can get a whopping 46% off the excellent and highly portable Emberton II speaker - with the price tumbling from £149.99 to just £79.99.

My final pick from Marshall's Black Friday sale goes to the Motif II A.N.C. earbuds - a pair of in-ears that give the Apple AirPods a run for their money, and in the UK, you can grab a pair for £119.99, down from their RRP of £179.99.

As we approach the final few weeks of 2025, it’s hard to argue that it’s not been the year of the Nintendo Switch 2. Following its April launch, the world has gone Ninty crazy and if all things Nintendo is your thing and you’re also a Lego fan, then there are some eye-catching Black Friday deals to snap up - including this awesome Lego Super Mario Game Boy which is on sale at Amazon with 18% off. It’s down from £54.99 to £44.99.

Sadly, it’s not on sale in the US right now, but the Lego Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi set most certainly is, with Amazon cutting the price from $129.99 to $104.99 - down 19%.

Aside from the Game Boy and Mario & Yoshi Lego kits, you can also get money off other Nintendo Lego sets.

The next kit I noticed was a sale on the 1972-piece Mario Kart kit, with Mario himself at the wheel. Amazon UK has cut the price by 30% from £149.99 to £104.99. In the US, meanwhile, you can fire up a blue shell and nab Mario’s nemesis Donkey Kong in his DK barrel kart with 33% off - down from $34.99 to $23.49.

Nintendo recently announced a Switch 2 version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and if you're a fan of the franchise, then this Lego Animal Crossing set deal might be of interest.

K.K.’s Plaza Concert set has been reduced, with a 22% discount in the US, with the price cut from $79.99 to $62 - while the UK price has been cut from £69.99 to £59.28. The 550-piece kit comes with everybody's favourite guitarist alongside Isabelle and Audie, and there's K.K.'s camper van included and more.

Finally, there's a small discount on the awesome Lego Nintendo Entertainment System model, with Amazon cutting the price from £339.99 to £331.26. Sure, the price drop isn't much but there's limited stock available.

After an epic weekend of deals galore, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are now in the rearview mirror. But that doesn't mean that all the price drops have come to an end, with many retailer still discounting stock after the main event.

Myself and the Louder team have sifted through the online retailers to find out what's still on offer and posted them below - just in case you missed out on some products over the weekend.

While these deals are still going at the time of writing, they could come to an end at any moment, so if you see something you like, grab it before it's too late.

“Do you have kids?” I was interviewing a band just off Denmark Street in London. The singer was telling me about his toddler. His kid was cute, he was telling me, but he was still at that age: he didn’t DO much.

“What age are your boys? Teenagers? Aw, I can’t wait til he’s that age so that I can talk to him about music, y’know?”

I didn’t have the heart to tell him. It isn’t like that. When his kid becomes old enough to care about music, the last thing he’s gonna to do is ask his dad for recommendations.

I had been like him once – a massive music nerd, eager to create an army of clones. Like Lou Reed sang in Beginning Of A Great Adventure: “It might be fun to have a kid… A little me to fill up with my thoughts/A little me or he or she to fill up with my dreams”.

I’ve got three boys. I thought I’d breed a little gang of music nerds, kids that knew the lyrics to (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais, could tell you which Rolling Stones albums to buy, and be able to hold their own in a conversation about the differences between dub, reggae, ska and rock steady. Who could appreciate Pink Floyd, Zeppelin and Nick Drake. A little army of musical evangelists, able to recommend the latest hot band, or mad new remix, or mixtape.

Spoiler alert: It didn't turn out like that.

For two reasons, I think. One: You’ve gotta let your kids be themselves. I played music around the house, I tried to make it fun, and I had some small victories: They liked The Beatles, the Ramones, and The Clash (particularly I Fought The Law). But mostly, they weren’t that into my old shit. They wanted to hear the stuff their friends liked. According to Apple Music, my 25 Most Played Songs includes A-Team by Ed Sheeran and songs by Passenger and John Legend. Those are not songs I have ever knowingly played.

The Second Reason My Kids Didn’t Turn Out To Be Massive Music Nerds: Mobile phones.

When my kids were old enough, they got their own phones. They had an Apple Music account but they hardly used it. They had YouTube. They had games to play. And then later they had Snapchat and TikTok. They had a world of entertainment in their pocket at all times. Music was just a small part of that world: annoying clips on TikToks, background music on FIFA. I bought them Bluetooth speakers but they didn’t use them: they just played stuff on their phone’s tinny little speaker.

When they got to their mid-teens and they wanted headphones, they asked for Beats and Airpods. I told them: They’re not good headphones. They didn’t care. They were cool. All the footballers had them.

And then something weird happened. My kids weren’t kids anymore. One of them went travelling by himself and it opened his eyes – and ears. He listened to a lot of music while travelling – you don’t look at videos on your phone when you’ve gone to the other side of the world and you’re looking around in wonder.

And when he came back, and it was his birthday, he asked for headphones. Good ones. Over-ears.

I did my research. I used Louder’s guide to headphones, because I knew it was written by Steve May who’s been reviewing headphones and musical tech for decades. And I read Amazon reviews and Reviews on What HiFi and TechRadar and – on Prime Day this summer – I bought him a pair of headphones I saw raved about over and over again: the Sony WH-1000XM4s. (In his latest guide, Steve May actually recommends the Sony WH-1000XM5s, the newer version: I’m sure they’re great, but they were out of my budget. They’re in the Black Friday sale now, 35% off.)

Suddenly, I had a music fan. The Sonys made everything sound amazing. They were comfortable, the charge lasted for a week. Then the texts started: What's Neil Young like? Where should I start with Pink Floyd? Who else sounds like The Clash? Had I heard Fontaines DC or King Krule?

He’s at university now. I’m still getting the texts. “What are The Cure like? Do Joy Division have any other good songs apart from Love Will Tear Us Apart?” The Sonys are never off his head. I texted him to ask what he liked about them: “I’d say sound quality,” he said. “You can hear everything in a song, all the different instruments. And comfort: you could wear them for four hours and they wouldn’t hurt.

“It’s made me wanna listen to proper music – bass-y music sounds so good.”

He's got into The Smiths after hearing them on David Fincher’s The Killer movie. When he came home, I pulled my old vinyl copies out: He didn’t care, had no interest. Vinyl doesn’t mean anything to him. He has his phone, a library of music at his fingertips, and he has his headphones.

I need to get in touch with that singer again. Maybe I've got some advice for him after all.

There's no better time than Black Friday to look to pick up some excellent deals on new music. No, seriously. Whether you're looking on Amazon, EMP or Townsend Music, there's a frankly absurd number of offers flying around that could see you save massive amounts on vinyl.

So how do you wade through such a packed landscape? Well, that's where we come in. We've hunted high and low, far and wide to find some of the best deals we can find this Black Friday, covering a litany of styles and genres.

To kick us off, how about the most talked-about reunion of 2024? Granted, it's technically not happened yet, but if you're one of the thousands who didn't manage to bag tickets for the Oasis world tour in 2025, you can still make some big savings on the 30th anniversary edition of their landmark Definitely Maybe vinyl. Reduced by 24% on Amazon UK, the box set is now just £47.24.

Wind the clocks back a decade further though, and Mötley Crüe ruled the world. Granted, it took until 1989's Doctor Feelgood until they hit the very top of the US charts, but their notoriety and image made them a trend-setting force in glam metal. You can now pick up a red & white splatter variation of that vinyl via Townsend Music for £25.

Opeth have only just released their superb new album The Last Will & Testament, so no surprise that one hasn't popped up with any deals yet (but it certainly won't stop us from looking!). That said, you can get a massive 24% off the soundtrack to Netflix's Clark on EMP. Clark is an impressive work even by Mikael Åkerfeldt's lofty standards and for £21.99 is well worth exploring.

So let's talk about a reunion that has happened. Slayer made a very welcome comeback in 2024 with live festival appearances in the US, and if that's stoked your love for thrash metal legends, you'll want to pick up a copy of The Repentles Killogy on amber vinyl. Amazon UK currently have it at just £21.06, a 31% reduction from its original price.

You can also find a special Gold & Black splatter variant of Sleep Token's Take Me Back To Eden on Amazon UK. 20% off means you can pick up the band's global breakthrough for just £28.08, though given the sheer scale of the band's success in recent years we'd say you'll want to pick up a copy of this as soon as possible.

That's a lot of deals for UK music fans, but how about the US? Let's start with the regal red vinyl of The Hu's sophomore record Rumble Of Thunder. With 15% off at Amazon US, you can now pick that up for just $29.73, a fine sum to part with in exchange for the finest sounds of Mongolian metal.

Metallica had massive celebrations of their seminal Black Album in 2021 and with good reason - it's no mystery how it became one of the best-selling rock and metal albums of all time. You can pick up your own copy of that legendary album for just $23.94 on Amazon US, a 20% reduction from its original price.

Another iconic record you can pick up with savings is Green Day's Dookie, practically a steal at less than $20 on Amazon US. The 22% saving should be all the persuasion you need to own your own copy of the album that helped revive punk rock in the 90s (and kickstarted a subsequent generation of pop punk bands).

Also in the sub-$20 club is the remastered vinyl of Metallica's Ride The Lightning. Vinyl connoisseurs will tell you there's no better way of hearing this iconic metal release than in LP format, and Amazon's Black Friday deal means you can now pick it up for just $17.82.

Closing us out is Type O Negative's Dead Again, the iconic doom metal band's final record from 2007 that is now available for $32.23 in Green/Black splatter vinyl variant. Unavailable for years, the fact you can now pick this up for such a low price should make it an absolute must for any doom/goth metal fan.

Black Friday is with us once again, and with it the promise of wide-ranging deals and discounts sure to frustrate the old bank balance. I waited until all three seasons of The Mandalorian were on Disney+ before buckling in and travelling to the stars alongside Mando and Baby Yoda. Yes, I devoured all 24 episodes in less than 12 Parsecs and loved every second of it - the story, the visuals, the high-action set pieces - and especially Mando’s bruised and battered starship, The Razor Crest.

So I was delighted to see that the Lego Razor Crest had been heavily discounted in the US, with Amazon taking an ion cannon to the price and blasting 31% off the RRP - taking it down from $599.99 to $415.99 for Black Friday.

The Razor Crest is made up from a whopping 6187 Lego bricks and once completed, will look amazing in your Lego Star Wars collection. Sure, it may not be quite as famous as the Millennium Falcon, but in my mind, it’s up there with the best ship designs in the Star Wars galaxy.

The level of detail is outstanding and would even make a Hutt sit up and take notice. It features sleeping quarters, hatches, the famous cockpit - and a carbon-freezing chamber, which no self-respecting bounty hunter should leave orbit without!

The top can be lifted off the finished model so you can gaze at the detailed interior - and the Lego set comes with mini-figures of The Madalorian, Baby Yoda (I refuse to call him Grogu) complete with his hoverpram, Mythrol, Kulil and a two-legged Burrg. Awesome.

Collecting physical media, be it CDs or vinyl records, is more than a smattering of retail therapy. There’s something ineffable about owning The Thing, from the ritual of selecting and playing records to simply having them displayed in your furniture of choice.

Dark days ahead, then, for said furniture; Amazon’s incomparably huge Black Friday sale has extended to its CD and vinyl record section in the US, resulting in a veritable cavalcade of discounts on records past and present, and a great deal more weight for your shelves to undoubtedly bear.

Amazon’s sale is a great Black Friday opportunity to fill some glaring gaps in your physical catalogue – such as Black Sabbath's eponymous (and gloriously remastered) first LP, the heavyweight vinyl pressing of which enjoys a tasty 15% discount, and the CD of which is reduced a nice, shiny 28%.

This writer’s predilection for the weirder side of ‘heavy’ has made this deal on The Mars Volta’s Frances The Mute (the best of the Volta oeuvre, and yes I am quite comfortable dying on this hill thank you for asking) an impossible one to ignore. Usually $51.98, Amazon’s Black Friday discount knocks 28% off, leaving a tidy deal of a price at $37.55.

Another unignorable deal for another uncompromisingly off-kilter record here as well, in Hella’s scramble-mad noise-rock record Hold Your Horse Is – the vinyl for which is down 18% to a frankly miniscule $18.85.

If you love music and you care about your street cred, then Beats should be high up your list of go-to brands. Co-founded by Dr Dre and now owned by Apple, it’s renowned for making tech that not only sounds the business but looks pretty damn cool, too.

And right now, there are two huge sales on their range of headphones on both sides of the Atlantic. In the US, Amazon have cut the cost across the board on a number of Beats products, including a massive 54% off the Beats Studio Pro wireless noise cancelling headphones, taking them down from $349.99 to just $159.99.

And in the UK, Argos are in on the cut-price action too, with 27 Beats products going cheap in their Black Friday sale - including £125 off the regular price of the Beats Powerbeats Pro true wireless earbuds in Navy - with the price down from £269.95 to £144.95.

All of the items had already been reduced in price at Argos, but Black Friday has inspired the retailer to slash even more money off – either 10% or 20% depending on the item. In order to take advantage of this additional saving, you’ll need to input the promo code BEATS10 or BEATS20 when you get to the checkout.

Co-founded in 2006 by music maestro Dr Dre, Beats has gone from strength to strength. Now a subsidiary of Apple, the brand is renowned for manufacturing headphones and speakers that offer great sound quality and features, while rocking the kind of aesthetic that guarantees street kudos.

Etsy is a great place to get gift ideas beyond the high-street shelves, particularly if your loved ones are fans of personalised portraits and other hand-made products - and right now, the site are holding their Cyber Savings sale with up to 30% off a whole range of items.

Starting out strong with a bold slice of homeware, I found this printed vinyl music record carpet with 50% off by Esra Karas Rugs - down from £53.14 to £26.57. A favourite ‘pick’ of mine takes the form of this miniature amp-shaped plectrum holder by Booths 3D. This Marshall-combo-styled pick-holder can carry up to eight of your plectrums, ensuring you never lose one to the aether again. Even better, you can customise the wording on the front – whether you opt for a first name, band name or suitably-embarrassing nickname. Oh, and for the next month or so you can pick one up for a nifty little 8% discount.

Another item for your hi-fi corner is rock'n'roll-themed canvas wall art by Wall Art Inspiration, which is down 25% from 135.83 to £101.87. These multi-panelled statement pieces take iconic posters from alternative music history and splay them out across your wall. You can choose the size and up to five personal-fave posters to include in the collage.

And finally, I come to this: a t-shirt design by Silver Lake T-Shirts that’ll speak to practically every GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome)-prone musician in your life - a tee that reads: “It’s not hoarding… if it’s guitars." There's 15% off taking it down to £15.09. I think we all know someone this applies to, and it would make a neat Christmas gift.

To give you an example of what’s available, you can pick up an Iron Maiden The Number Of The Beast tee, featuring the UK legends' iconic mascot Eddie, for $17.43 - a saving on the usual price of $24.90.

Meanwhile in the UK, you can grab a pair of Chuck 70 GORE-TEX for just £69 - that’s down from their usual price of £115… and with the weather currently sweeping across the UK, these are ideal for the winter months.

Black Friday’s come around again, and with it a cavalcade of tough-to-ignore music-focused deals from a venerable stack of brands and businesses. For us pop-culture enthusiasts, there’s another side to Black Friday that’s bound to test our wallets – and that side is pretty well-covered by Zavvi’s sweeping Black Friday discounts on geeky collectibles and pop-culture esoterica.

There’s a lot of coverage here in the merch department, but the presence of Star Wars collectibles is an especial draw – particularly in the armoury department. For instance, you can get a Black Series light-up replica of Yoda’s lightsaber from The Book of Boba Fett, for a reduced price of £139.99 – down £60 from the original price of £199.99.

From the same series, you can pick up a 1:1 replica of the First Order stormtrooper’s riot control baton from The Last Jedi. You know, the spinny one that sounds huge? There's a massive £157 discount on it, bringing this iconic piece of sequel-era memorabilia down from £249.99 to just £92.99. That’s more than 62% off the list price, and a very difficult deal to pass up.

Elsewhere in fandom, you can own a limited-edition slice of MCU memorabilia at a frankly ridiculous 81% discount. T’Challa’s necklace and Kimoyo Beads from Black Panther are faithfully replicated here, as a limited-edition set; there are only 7000 of these sets in the world, and you can have one for £10.99, reduced from £59.99.

And speaking of Marvel, you can save £58 on a set of Hasbro Marvel Legend Series X-Men villains. The five models of Random, Pretty Boy, Vertigo, Stryfe and Zero characters are down from £127.99 to £69.99. Each one is 6-inches tall and they come with a whole bunch of accessories, explosive effects and more.

Finally, if you’re of an older-school persuasion, Hasbro’s iconic Kenner miniature action figures are here too, and at impressive prices. A fave deal of mine is the Indiana Jones Wave 1 5-pack set, featuring the cast of Raiders Of The Lost Ark in glorious 3.75” scale. This set retails at £79.95, but Zavvi has them down to just £26.99 – a huge saving of £52.96, and a great price for the pleasure of re-enacting the prop-plane fight scene on your coffee table.

Last week, I took advantage of 3 free months of Amazon Music Unlimited and I’ve been really impressed with its vast library and excellent selection of music in Ultra HD. And things only got better when I woke up this morning to discover that Amazon’s audiobook service Audible has now been included through the music app.

If you already have the Amazon Music Unlimited app installed, you may have to update it before you see the Audible tab on top of the home screen. Click it, and you’ll be presented with several categories including Most Popular, Best Of 2024, New Releases, Only From Audible, Great First Listens, Music Memories and more.

My first pick was The Hotel Avocado by Bob Mortimer, but it’s also worth noting that you can select any audiobook and click ‘save for later’ so you don’t lose track of interesting listens.

Looking through the menus for music biographies, a quick search showed me Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen, My Effin’ Life by Geddy Lee, Into The Void by Geezer Butler, I Am Ozzy by Ozzy Osbourne, Confess by Rob Halford, What Does This Button Do? by Bruce Dickinson and Sammy Hagar’s Red: My Uncensored Life In Rock.

As for Amazon Music Unlimited, I love the fact I can switch between audio quality levels on the fly, either on my phone app or on desktop - and with 100 million tracks to explore, podcasts galore and curated playlists, this is a great time to dive in and see what’s on offer - all for free for three months.

It’s always a big deal when a major manufacturer announces a big sale at this time of year, so when I noticed that Marshall had officially launched their Black Friday sale in the UK, I was itching to see what would be on offer – and I wasn't disappointed – as there's savings of up to £160 on their range of speakers and headphones.

The first thing to catch my eye was £50 off the popular Emberton II portable Bluetooth speaker – down from £149.99 to £99, while the Marshall Major IV headphones have dropped from £109.99 to £64.99.

It’s always great getting your hands on a new bit of audio kit, but it’s especially sweet when that come at a sizeable discount. And there are lots of discounts to be had in the Marshall Black Friday sale.

I've mentioned the Emberton II above, but there are also other great discounts on speakers in the sale. For example, the powerful Stanmore III is down from £349.99 to £249 in both its black and brown colour variations.

In March this year, we gave the Marshall Woburn III a five-star review, saying it combined "beautifully sharp, detailed and balanced audio with room-filling sound". It’s also on sale for £419 - that’s down from its usual price of £519.99.

Prefer private listening? Then along with the Marshall Major IV, the Monitor II A.N.C. are have been discounted from £269.99 to £159 and the in-ear Motif II A.N.C. are down from £179.99 to just £119.

Over the years, I’ve subscribed to most of the big music streaming services, but with Amazon Music Unlimited currently offering a free 3 month trial, I thought I would dive in and explore what it has to offer.

With more than 100 million songs, HD and Spatial Audio, ad-free podcasts, playlists galore and Alexa voice control, Amazon Music Unlimited is one of the most popular music streaming services around.

From a blank slate, I searched for The Cure’s new album Songs Of A Lost World and found it was available in Ultra HD which Amazon say is “up to 10 times the quality of standard streaming services.” Opening track Alone sounded amazing through my Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones with noise cancelling activated and really brought the textures to life.

Going back to the main menu - which shares a similar vibe to Apple Music - after listening to Alone, Amazon Music Unlimited had recommended albums by the likes of Siouxsie And The Banshees, The Sisters Of Mercy, Cocteau Twins, The Psychedelic Furs, The Jesus And Mary Chain, The The, Bauhaus and Echo And The Bunnymen, so the algorithm is definitely working and in a good place.

Another thing I really liked about using Amazon Music Unlimited on both my MacBook and smartphone app is the ability to switch between different levels of audio quality. For example, if an album is marked as Ultra HD, you can switch between the 24-bit, 96 kHz setting and the standard version on the fly, just by pressing or clicking a tab under whatever track is playing.

I also appreciated the app’s ‘X-ray’ function, which gives you facts about the band and album your listening to, release dates, song writing credits, line-up changes, group history and more through a series of slides.

If you have yet to explore Amazon Music Unlimited, with 3 months completely free, this is the perfect time to do so. There's a bunch of stuff to discover, loads of curated playlists, a fantastic selection of music, excellent audio options, all the podcasts you could ever want and more.

Just as one big sales events disappears, another rises right in front of us - and the audio masters at Marshall have wasted no time in launching their very own Cyber Monday sale, with a range of savings across their speaker and headphone ranges. But if you want to grab a discount, you'll have to be fast as some products are starting to sell out.

The deals on the official Marshall website cover both the US and UK, although there are differences to what products are on offer depending which side of the pond you're on. For instance, in the US, you can pick up the Uxbridge Voice speaker for £129.99 - that’s down from its usual price of $219.99.

It's not on sale in the UK, instead you can get the original Emberton speaker in all four colour variations for £89.99 - reduced from its RRP of £129.99.

The Positive Grid Spark Go is one of 2023’s hottest guitar mini-amps and Smart speakers. Real guitarists love it for practicing, and for the range of tones you can access on it by connecting it with the Spark app on your phone. From the app, you can dial into dozens of classic amp sounds and pedals, literally at your fingertips, plus play along with backing tracks or real songs. And right now it’s £30/$30 off.

The Spark Go clocked up great reviews from people who know what they’re talking about, who raved about its sound quality, depth of tone and the volume it creates despite its size. But it is also great for those of us who don’t (read: “can’t”/“shouldn’t”) take our guitar playing too seriously. 

It is small – literally smaller than my phone, though far chunkier, which means it doesn’t take up any floor space and packs away easily – and it is more than loud enough for my embarrassing playing. I bought it earlier this year because my son was learning to play and was frustrated that he couldn’t make the guitar sound like the songs he was listening to. 

I play guitar – I am “busker level” (and by that I mean, the most basic busker you can think of, not the fancy-dan street performers you get in city centres today: someone who can knock out a song with three of four chords) but I usually just favour my acoustic. Acoustics are straightforward: no need to plug in, or find an effects pedal, just pick it up and bash away. 

Electric guitars, on the other hand, are a world of pain to me. I have an ESP Les Paul-type guitar and for years all I have had to play it through is a small Marshall amp. I had a multi-fx unit (Digitech, I think) for a while but I gave it to a friend: it took me forever to find a sound I liked. By the time I sounded good, I had no time left to practice. So my electric sat in a wardrobe until my son said he’d like to play. 

The Spark lived up to its name: it ignited something. 

It turned a flat-sounding guitar into a world of sound. I would pass his room and hear him working out Come As You Are, the Arctic Monkeys Do I Wanna Know? or the lick from Brazil by Declan McKenna. And I found myself drawn in: “Let me try.” He’d hear a song by Bakar and we’d find the tab and work it out. 

The Spark Go was at the heart of this: portable, easy to use (I have two favourite settings: a rhythm sound that’s quite clean but I’ve modified with some added Drive, Delay and Reverb) and a lead sound that it is very Angus Young (or maybe more Billy Duffy). It is hours of fun. With headphones on, he could practice until late (hey, it beats him shouting at Fifa). Rechargeable, portable, it's so small that my other half doesn't even know I have it. 

I have no ambitions of getting on stage or going in a recording studio, so the Spark Go means I don’t have to invest in hundreds of pounds of unnecessary amps and effects. To my son, it’s a jumping-off point. Maybe he’ll stick in and graduate on to something bigger and meaner. Or maybe he’ll pass his driving test and forget all about it. It doesn’t matter – if all else fails, we’ve got an extra Bluetooth speaker.

It's so important to look after our hearing when attending live events - it’s a subject that’s picked up a lot of support in recent years, and wearing earplugs at concerts is becoming more and more common than it was even five years ago.

I started wearing earplugs to concerts after I saw Swans and Anna von Hausswolff live several years ago. I've been to many gigs in the last 35 year or so, but that particular gig was so loud that I was in real pain and had to resort to stuffing the green foam buds they were giving away free at the bar into my ears. Those didn't help me - they just muffled the noise and what was a concert I'd been looking forward to was basically ruined. I was in pain for several days and that's when I decided to buy my first pair of proper earplugs.

In my eyes, you can't beat a Converse trainer. As a former emo kid who grew up wearing their iconic Chucks, they still hold a strong place in my heart (and wardrobe) as a reliable, easy-to-wear and versatile shoe which look great with just about any outfit - even when no longer paired with super tight skinny jeans and a gravity-defying side-swept fringe.

Last year the Rolling Stones joined forces with Nixon to launch a range of exclusive watches, straps and apparel, with the move following similar collaborations between the Californian brand and Metallica and Grateful Dead.

And if you’ve been holding off on getting something from the range, now is a great time to dive in, as Nixon have slashed prices across their range by 25% sitewide on both sides of the Atlantic - and the first watch to give me Satisfaction is the Rolling Stones Time Teller in red which is down from $175 to $131.25. This deal also covers the watch in Gold and All Black, and all three have different designs.

And if you’re a UK-based Stones’ fan, the Rolling Stones Time Teller Acetate Multi Gold has been reduced from £160 to £120 to celebrate Black Friday.

When the range was unveiled in September last year, I immediately liked the Rolling Stones 51-30 watch thanks to that iconic band logo and neon-style lettering. It’s down from $550 to $412.50 - although this particular model isn’t currently available in the UK.
